Acorn Treatment and Housing have designed a structured pre-placement course that all clients will complete to provide them with core skills for the workplace. The course is designed specifically for those in recovery from addiction to help them overcome the practical and psychological barriers in gaining employment.
The programme includes employability lectures, recovery maintenance, assertive linkage into self help, personal development and accredited training.
Service users graduate with a ‘Recovery Coach’ qualification from the Institute of Leadership and Management.
Service users need the opportunity to put their learning into practice and to continue to develop their skills. This is where our partners come in! We are looking for placements where the graduates can use their training and share their experience and knowledge to mentor and support clients that are still in active addiction or early in recovery. This will also help them in their own recovery journey as they can start to give something back to their community.
Clients will continue to be supported whilst they are volunteering and advice and guidance will be provided on gaining further vocational qualifications and ultimately gaining employment. Please get in touch to discuss any development opportunities.
